Under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, the "Encyclopedia of the Great Umayyad Mosque in Damascus" project, prepared by researcher Dr. Ahmed Ibesh, will be launched at the Syrian National Library. The launch event will include a lecture exploring the historical and architectural dimensions of the Great Umayyad Mosque, accompanied by a documentary exhibition. This ongoing scholarly and documentary project, under the auspices of the Syrian Ministry of Culture, aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the mosque's history, architecture, and art, and its enduring impact on Syrian cultural memory and as a cornerstone of Damascus's historical identity.

As part of its efforts to disseminate technical knowledge, the Ministry of Culture is hosting a specialized lecture entitled: “Labor Market Requirements for Programmers: From the Classroom to the Professional World.” The lecture will shed light on the realities of the programming job market and discuss the gap between academic education and the rapidly evolving needs of the technology sector. Its aim is to empower young people and guide them toward building professional career paths based on in-demand skills. The lecture will be presented by Dr. Mohammad Abu Hudhud, an expert in programming and the technology job market, from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. It will take place at the Drama Theatre – Opera House, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. The lecture is open to the public.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, a symposium entitled “Syrian Kurds and National Unity: Challenges and Possibilities” will be held at the National Library in Damascus. The symposium aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the role of the Kurds in Syrian national history. The symposium will also shed light on the PKK terrorist organization’s approach to distorting the social fabric and its infiltration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which negatively impacts the recovery process in Syria and threatens the country’s partition. Participants in the symposium include Professor Hassan al-Dughaim, a researcher specializing in political and religious groups, and Dr. Osama Muslim, an academic and community activist. The session will be moderated by writer and researcher Abbas Sharifa.

The Directorate of Child Culture at the Ministry of Culture has opened the door for volunteering to university students and graduates up to the age of 35, in support of programs aimed at children and adolescents, to participate in implementing activities within the cultural centers closest to their places of residence, in addition to central events.

This Arab-Kurdish event aims to promote awareness of authentic Syrian heritage and highlight the values of Syrian cultural diversity through a variety of artistic activities, including visual arts, music, theater, singing, and folk arts. The Ministry of Culture invites you to attend the closing ceremony of the First Sculpture Symposium, held to support young artists and highlight contemporary creative experiences. The symposium will feature an art mural documenting the narrative of the revolution through a contemporary artistic vision. This exhibition provides a space to celebrate creativity, honor participating artists, and emphasize the role of art as a living memory that expresses national and human transformations. The event will take place at the National Center for Visual Arts in Damascus on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at 12:00 PM.
The Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Damascus University, is organizing the events of the International Day of the Arabic Language through a diverse cultural program that includes a scientific seminar, a poetry evening, an artistic segment and an exhibition of Arabic calligraphy, in confirmation of the cognitive and cultural presence of the Arabic language and its status in the civilizational scene.
